This is the farm belonging to Daniel Klingel. Klingel bought the 15 acre farm in April of from Jacob Brenner, who had received the farm as payment of a debt by Ludwig Esick. Esick had cleared the land and built the house and barn around Daniel, a local shoemaker, lived at the farm with his wife Hannah and two young children.

The house is the only battle-era structure on farm and contributes to the historic scene of Klingel Farm which was occupied by both Union & Confederate forces during the Battle of Gettysburg. The house is typical of an early 19th-Century farm dwelling of the area.
